Industrial workstations for assembly, inspection and production.

OTTOKIND workstations are made in Germany to handle real production loads. Fixed-height, height-adjustable. Modular so they can be reconfigured as your requirements change.

Choosing the right workstation for the task

The right choice depends on the load, the operator, the task and whether the layout needs to change. This page sets out the main options and what to consider before specifying.

Fixed-height workstations

Fixed-height benches suit tasks where the working height is consistent and does not change between operators or shifts. They are simpler, lower cost and suitable for high-load applications such as mounting vices, jigs and fixtures.

OTTOKIND fixed frames carry up to 2,000 kg static load to DIN EN 14183. Welded steel construction eliminates flex under dynamic or off-centre loading.

  • Heavy assembly and mechanical build
  • Jig and fixture mounting
  • Test rig bases
  • Component sub-assembly
  • Fabrication and fitting

Height-adjustable workstations

Height-adjustable benches are the right choice when operators of different heights share the same station, when tasks alternate between sitting and standing, or when ergonomic compliance is a requirement.

OTTOKIND electric columns adjust from 700 mm to 1,250 mm with a 400 kg dynamic load rating under TÜV testing. Memory presets allow each operator to return to their preferred height immediately.

  • Multi-shift assembly lines
  • Precision inspection and testing
  • Electronics and ESD-sensitive assembly
  • Packing and despatch
  • Areas with a mix of sitting and standing work

OTTOKIND workstation product families

OTTOKIND manufacture five height-adjustable workstation systems. Each is designed for a specific load range and application. DRH KIND supplies all five product families into the UK.

multi4easy

Entry-level height-adjustable workstation for general assembly and inspection. Mechanical adjustment in a 20 mm grid (690–990 mm) or electric drive (690–1070 mm). Widths 1280, 1685 and 2030 mm; depths 700, 800 and 900 mm.

Load: 300 kg with beech multiplex worktop / 200 kg with ESD or laminate worktop. ESD-conductive powder coating baked at 180 °C for permanent conductivity.

  • Light to medium assembly
  • Inspection and test stations
  • ESD-sensitive electronics work

multi4motion

Four-column electric workstation for a wide height range (700–1170 mm). Widths up to 2030 mm, depths up to 1000 mm. Superstructures to 875 mm (standard) or 1250 mm (extended). Linkable 90° or 180° for L- and U-shaped cells.

Load: 300 kg with beech multiplex worktop / 200 kg with ESD or laminate worktop. Suited to mixed-shift operations and complex assembly with overhead equipment.

  • Mixed-shift production lines
  • Assembly cells with monitor and tool superstructures
  • L- and U-shaped workstation configurations

multi4power

Heavy-duty electric platform for industrial load-carrying tasks. Four motors with self-locking spindles. BG-approved to Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. Travel range 710–1080 mm; stroke 370 mm. 50 mm beech multiplex worktop; 230 V / 720 W; integrated emergency stop. Widths 1685 and 2030 mm; depth 800 mm (1000 mm workbench variant).

Load: 1000 kg desktop / 2000 kg workbench. The standard choice for heavy fixtures, pressing, torque tooling and large sub-assembly.

  • Heavy fixture and jig mounting with height adjustment
  • Power tool and press operations
  • Large sub-assembly and build stages

multi2move

Clean-line electric workstation with a minimal footprint. Electric height range 700–1070 mm. Widths 1280, 1685 and 2030 mm; depths 700–1000 mm. Linkable 90° or 180°.

Load: 200 kg basic / 100 kg extension unit. Suited to clean-room adjacent work, laboratory benching and quality control stations where appearance matters.

  • QC and metrology stations
  • Clean production environments
  • Linked multi-position workstation cells

multi4lift

Height-adjustable platform with integrated ball transfer rollers for direct connection to roller conveyor lines. Electric range 800–1170 mm. Widths 1030 and 1280 mm; depths 750 and 890 mm. Compressed air stroke option available.

Used where workpieces arrive and leave on a conveyor and the operator adjusts working height without removing the part from the transport system.

  • In-line production with roller conveyors
  • Assembly stations integrated into transfer lines
  • Ergonomic lift-and-pass operations

How to specify the right workstation

These are the questions worth thinking through before requesting a quote. You do not need detailed drawings. A description of the task, the load and the operators is enough to begin.

Load capacity

What is the heaviest load the bench will carry? Include the weight of the workpiece, any fixtures, tooling and equipment placed on the surface. For dynamic loading (pressing, hammering, vibration), the effective load is higher than the static weight.

OTTOKIND fixed frames: up to 2,000 kg static. Height-adjustable columns: 400 kg dynamic. Drawer cabinets: up to 200 kg per drawer.

Worktop specification

Worktop choice depends on the task. Options include: steel (high load, hard-wearing), laminate (general assembly, clean areas), ESD laminate (electronics assembly, DIN EN 61340-5-1), wood (light assembly, marking-out), and stainless steel (food, medical, wet environments).

Worktop thickness and edge treatment also affect load distribution. Thick-section tops are more suitable where heavy items are placed near the edge.

Accessories and integration

OTTOKIND uses a common mounting rail across all bench sizes. Accessories attach without drilling or welding. Typical additions include: adjustable lighting, power strips, monitor arms, tool rails, overhead shelving, drawer cabinets and acoustic screens.

Because the mounting system is standardised, accessories can be added later without replacing the frame. This is relevant where requirements are likely to change.

What to send when you enquire

A clear recommendation requires a clear brief. The more of these you can provide, the faster the specification process.

  • What task is being carried out at the workstation
  • How many operators will use it, and whether they vary in height
  • The maximum load the bench needs to carry
  • Whether height adjustment is required and whether sitting or standing
  • The available space (width, depth, ceiling height if relevant)
  • Whether ESD protection is required
  • What accessories are needed (lighting, power, storage, monitor arms)
  • Whether the layout may need to change in the future

A photo of the current workstation or the area is often the most useful starting point.
